Natasha’s experience

“It has been an exciting year for the Visiting Volunteer team, with more than 280 people vetted and trained to take on the important task of helping people to complete their applications for support.

Over the last 12 months we have worked with 30 provinces to help introduce the new scheme, resulting in hundreds more successful visits.

Asking for help can be difficult for applicants, so it is reassuring to know that there are people who are committed to making the process as stress-free and straightforward as possible. It really is great to see people from different backgrounds coming together with the common goal of ensuring a smooth and effective application process.

We have had two experienced trainers travelling up and down the country, from Cornwall to Cumberland & Westmorland, delivering induction sessions to new volunteers. These sessions help the volunteers to understand the information they need to gather so that when it reaches our grants team, it can be considered without delay.

The response from our beneficiaries has been overwhelmingly positive. When an applicant gets in touch to say thank you for the ‘friendly and professional’ experience they had when one of the volunteers visited, it really makes our day.”
