Lindsey’s story

“Its been a busy year for the team, with over 2,450 applications received from charities across England and Wales.

At the beginning of the year, we transitioned from using PDF and paper forms to an exclusively online application process. This has been particularly helpful for smaller charities who may not have more limited resources. Although we experienced some teething problems, this has helped to streamline the applications process – making it easier for applicants and allowing us to process forms more efficiently.

We have now started work on a new charity grants database using the Salesforce platform which will refine the grant-making process further and help us to respond to applicants more quickly. This is a major and exciting project which will not only improve the way in which our own team operates, but will also support other departments involved in our work.

We also launched a new and exciting partnership with Hospice UK and ran our first round of grants offering funding to help hospices establish or improve local bereavement care services. The response to this programme was fantastic and we received a huge number of applications; nine hospices around the country have now been awarded grants, allowing more people to access the bereavement support they need.

It has been a productive year for the charity grants team and we are looking forward to developing our work further through the launch of our new database.
