#wearetheMCF – David

“I was born and brought up in Cornwall which was a fantastic place to grow up. I trained as a mechanical engineer and I’ve spent the majority of my working life in Bristol.

I spent 20 years in export activities, travelling the world, living in the United States and Singapore at times. My father was a freemason and he always wanted me to join but I resisted for a long time. The more he asked the more I resisted, until unfortunately he passed away. Later when I was asked by a work colleague if I would like to join, I did – partly in memory of my dad.

I was a lodge charity steward for eight years up until 2012 and then in 2013 I became Provincial Grand Charity Steward. Since then I’ve been involved in fundraising for our 2020 Festival. When the MCF formed I was asked to be a part of their Fundraising Committee and have really enjoyed getting deeply involved with the MCF’s fundraising activities. The MCF does such fantastic work – the way they’re able to support members, the look on the charities’ faces when I see them on behalf of the MCF… it is absolutely brilliant. It’s worth so much to me personally and is a fantastic thing to be part of.”
